TeenSounds Artistic Director, Dr. Tyler Todd Kimmel
Tyler Todd Kimmel is very excited to be joining the Northwest Associated Arts Choir Family! He is an alumnus of the University of Washington (DMA Choral Conducting), Florida International University (MM Theory and Composition, emphasis in orchestral conducting) and Pepperdine University (BA in Music Education and Music Theory and Composition). At Pepperdine, he studied vocal performance, double bass, and composition and performed in the university’s musicals and operas. At Florida International University in Miami, he taught composition and was an assistant conductor of the university symphony under Grzegorz Nowak, associate conductor of the Royal Philharmonic in London. A recent DMA graduate of the University of Washington’s choral conducting program, he co-led two university choirs, and helped organize many collaborative concerts with his colleagues, university and Seattle professional instrumentalists and singers. In Seattle, he has taught voice and piano lessons, and has been a music director, vocal coach, and educator for The Hi-liner’s Musical theater. Additionally, he has scored several short films and has had his music featured in the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. As an actor, he has appeared with Taproot Theatre Company in Seattle. Credits include: Black Coffee, Arsenic and Old Lace, Sweet Land (regional premier), Big Fish, Godspell, and A Charlie Brown Christmas, three times. For the last nine years, he has been the choir and theater director at Seattle Christian School. He also leads the choir at Highline Christian Church in Burien.
