COVID-19 Updates

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all 2020-21 rehearsals and auditions will be conducted online, and all performances will be virtual, unless otherwise specified. However, we are still holding virtual auditions for new members for all three choirs for the 2020-21 season. See our Auditions page for more information on how to schedule an audition, and stay tuned for announcements of the virtual fun we have planned for the coming year!

Letter from Our Board of Directors, April 2020

After wrestling with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NWAA Board of Directors has voted to cancel all NWAA concerts and special events through the 2019-20 Season. We will evaluate the situation further as time goes by, with the hope that we can retain all of our key elements in place so that, when it is safe to sing together, we are ready to go. The Board has created a Values Statement (see below) that will inform all of our decisions as we navigate forward through this unprecedented interruption in our normal activities.

As a part of our planning, we are also talking about what our choirs might look like during this time. It is important to all of us to maintain our singing families and the communities that we have built. There will be more to come, and we appreciate your patience and input as we work through what that might look like and how we all will engage and stay connected with one another during this time.

This will be a challenging time for all of us, but we remain committed to NWAA’s long-term health and have every intention of returning to our shared musical family as soon as possible.

Thank you,
NWAA Board of Directors

Stay connected to our community during this time with social media!

Statement of Values in Response to COVID-19 Pandemic

The following value statements were discussed and agreed upon by the NW Associated Arts Executive Committee on April 21, 2020. The purpose of the statements is to help guide decisions about the organization during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. The statements are not in order of priority and should be read as a collective foundation of principals.

Preservation of the Organization.  NW Associated Arts persists through the pandemic  and is healthy to begin normal operations with membership and audiences when the pandemic is over, and it is deemed safe to do so.

Maintain Choral Community.  NW Associated Arts community of singers stays connected and engaged during the entirety of the pandemic, through virtual and other means.

Retain Critical Staff.  Retain critical staff to maintain operations of NW Associated Arts during this time and keep connections with choir communities.

Financial Health of Organization.  All decisions impacting NW Associated Arts are measured using financial health and stability as a foundation.

Maintain Special Events.  Ensure the viability of NW Associated Arts Special Events to restart in the future when it is safe to join together in large venues.

Maintain Commitment to the Burien and Seattle Community.  As a part of Burien and Seattle, NW Associated Arts will explore creative ways to continue to engage and inspire the larger community during this challenging time.
