
Whether
a beginning singer with no experience or a more advanced
chorister with previous experience singing in an ensemble,
NWAA's three youth choruses welcome singers from grade 3 to 12
from around the South King County area. Each of the ensembles
numbers between 20 and 40 singers, with repertoire from a wide
variety of genres including sacred, classical, spiritual, folk,
and other secular music.
Rehearsals are held at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. Membership to KidSounds Northwest is open to boys and girls in grades 3 through 5 and rehearsals are from 4:15 p.m. until 5:15 p.m. on Wednesdays YouthSounds Northwest is open to boys and girls in grades 6 through 8 and rehearsals are from 4:15 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesdays. TeenSounds Northwest is open to grades 9 through 12, and rehearsals are from 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Members of the youth choruses pay tuition for each concert period. Tuition rates are as follows:
Cost: $225 per year, $80 per quarter, or $30 per month. The cost of the uniform is $25.
Cost: $270 per year, $95 per quarter, or $35 per month. Uniform: same as KidsSounds.
Cost: $240 per year, $85 per quarter, or $32 per month. Uniform: Boys: Cost is $25. The girls wear a full-length black dress: cost is $55.
Tuition scholarships are available based upon need.
