About ChoralSounds Northwest

ChoralSounds Northwest (CSN) is a Burien-based mixed chorus that offers the fun of singing traditional choral music as well as new arrangements with a decidedly theatrical style.

A friendly, cohesive group of dedicated musicians who are drawn together by their love of choral singing, CSN offers a musical home to singers who want to experience the fun and camaraderie of singing and performing with a professional group. CSN concerts are much more than typical choral concerts. Sets, costuming, lighting, choreography and drama all combine for fun-filled, theatrical shows.

Concert Season

CSN's 2010-11 concert season includes 2 mainstage productions, including the holiday concert in early December 2010 and a pops concert in mid May 2010, at the Highline Performing Arts Center in Burien. CSN will also present its third annual Valentine's Cabaret on February 13, 2011 at the SeaTac Community Center.

CSN offers many solo, duet, and small ensemble opportunities to our singing membership. These performances are enhanced with special sets, lighting, and choreography, making them a fun and entertaining experience for performers and audiences alike.

Other Season Events

In addition to the mainstage concerts in Burien, CSN is sometimes asked to perform at various other functions within the greater Seattle area. In the past, CSN has joined with other area amateur musical organizations for joint performances at Seattle's incredible Benaroya Hall. The chorus has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City, and in June 2001 the chorus made its first trip abroad, where it toured Italy while performing in its churches and performance halls.

Membership

Membership in CSN is open to all singers of high school age and older who want to sing with the chorus. Singers who decide to join CSN will be asked to sing a short excerpt from any song of their choice - with or without accompaniment - in a private session with the conductor, to help him place their voice in the chorus. Previous choral singing experience and the ability to sight-read are desired, but not required for membership.
